Insidiously intelligent, she sought knowledge like air,
absorbing the words of the page through her fingertip up into the heart of her.
She hollowed out hallowed ideas of the traditional and radical,
searching for lessons to learn to ensure she never chose wrong.
She pulled apart each decision,
examining the divergence of baseless threats and derailed diplomacy.
Fortuitous pragmatic plans enacted through legitimate intent that seek the common good.
That, she concluded, is the goal.
But still, she was frozen in decisive indecision
her fear of failure leading the successful retreat of courage.
Bad decisions, she learned, are time immemorial.
But the lesson she never learned was worst,
The purgatory of the maybe.
